Digistor Appointed as Extensis Reseller
December 3, 2010
Extensis digital asset management (DAM) software is an ideal addition to Digistor’s solutions for broadcast and post-production customers
Sydney, Australia - Digistor, a local digital solutions supplier for the broadcast and post-production market, has announced the company’s appointment as an Extensis reseller to sell and support Extensis’ range of digital asset management products. Digistor will focus on integrating Extensis’ Portfolio software products into professional studio environments to centralise the control and management of media assets.
“We’re delighted to have been appointed an Extensis preferred partner and are very impressed with the functionality and scalability of the Extensis Portfolio Server,” stated Digistor Managing Director, Andrew Mooney. “Our clients have been asking us for Asset Management solutions and it’s great to be able to offer such a professional product to manage their media”
Extensis Australia and NZ Business Director, Richard Bamford, sees Digistor as an ideal addition to the Portfolio reseller channel given the product’s features and Digistor’s market focus.
“We’re very excited to be working with Digistor and believe that Portfolio Server’s ability to handle large collections of rich media files will fit in neatly with Digistor’s customers’ requirements,” Bamford said. Digital Asset Management (DAM) is particularly important in digital media production environments such as television, post-production studios, animation studios, games development organisations and media companies. In these environments which are typical of Digistor’s customer base, teams of editors, artists and developers need fast access to media assets as well as a way to standardise their filing, naming and encoding. By facilitating efficient workflows Portfolio Server can save organisations large amounts of money.
“When properly planned and implemented,” explained Mooney, “Portfolio Server’s support for rich metadata can dramatically increase the utilisation of an organisation’s media assets while reducing costs and improving productivity. There is deep organisational knowledge embedded in metadata which Portfolio exposes to users. This can be quite liberating.”
Extensis’ DAM product line is applicable to single desktop users scalable up to enterprise-wide deployments. Products include :-
- Portfolio Server for workgroups and teams of any size;
- Portfolio NetPublish — a Portfolio Server add-on that offers real-time web publishing;
- Portfolio SQL Connect — a Portfolio Server add-on that allows you to leverage your existing MSSQL, Oracle or MySQL database; and
- Portfolio for the stand-alone Macintosh and Windows desktop user
