Aspera has announced the immediate availability of Aspera faspex™ version 2.5. This latest release of Aspera's popular web-based platform for high-speed, person-to-person file exchange and delivery introduces major new functionality for ad-hoc content submission, automated distribution and enterprise scale-out.

POWERFUL NEW DROP BOX CAPABILITY
faspex drop boxes allow ad-hoc submission of content from third-party users through a simple email invitation paradigm — without requiring a registered faspex account. Metadata is fully configurable per drop box, captured on the faspex server as XML for tracking and notification, and fully integrated with Aspera Console reporting. Contribution and upload privileges for each drop box can be set to auto-expire using time-based policies.

FULLY INTEGRATED, AUTOMATIC DOWNLOADS
Customers using the Aspera Cargo Downloader automatic download desktop widget will be pleased to know drop box and standard submissions, as well as multi-server relay are now fully integrated allowing easy end-to-end faspex distribution to global clients.

ADVANCED POLICY-BASED ENCRYPTION
Encryption at rest policies can be set per drop box or system wide, and include a new policy allowing the sender to determine if encryption at rest is used. Fully integrated with Aspera Cargo Downloader and Aspera Connect, the decryption of downloaded packages is a simple one-click operation.

EXPANDED USER AUTHENTICATION
faspex 2.5 includes support for all LDAP directory services for import, synchronization, and direct authentication including Open LDAP and Active Directory.

UNLIMITED SCALE-OUT
Thanks to a new 3-tier application architecture, the Aspera Enterprise Server nodes that power the file transfer of the faspex system can be deployed in a high-availability cluster, separate from thefaspex web application, to deliver unlimited scale-out of transfer capacity.

EXPANDED WEB BROWSER COMPATIBILITY
The new version of the Aspera Connect web browser plug-in includes support for Google Chrome for MacOS, plus native 64-bit support for Chrome on Mac, and the latest versions of Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer.

OTHER ENHANCEMENTS
Version 2.5 also includes improvements for the automation of package sending, querying and downloading, plus many other features and important bug fixes.
