Southern Region Update

August, 2011

With SMPTE just a distant memory, the Melbourne office has been flat out following up on all the enquires from the show. It was great to put a face to a name especially for those of you who travelled across from SA, WA and Tassie!

One on One Demos

With the shipping of the Newtek Tricaster 850 Extreme, 3Play 820, we are happy to offer one on one sessions to demonstrate the new features and workflow each of these new units offer at our Melbourne office. The AJA FS2 is now shipping so if you would like to see what its capable of, we will be able to organise some sessions with you later this month. Just give myself or Warwick Morris a call to arrange a time to come in to check them out. These were hot items at SMPTE and anyone who checked them out on the Adimex booth were blown away by the features and performance they showed.

Asset management for your tape/tapeless workflows – hot topic

Metadata is king in the digital age.
We have some great new products to help manage your digital assets. Extensis Portfolio 10 has just been released along with CatDV V9.0. Both of these products have their strengths. We can help workout what the best solution is for your environment. Editshare have also just updated their storage and asset management software to offer even greater integration into your production workflow.
Ask us for more info you are looking for a solution from ingest to archive, we can tailor a solution to suit your digital needs.

Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer – that is the question... sounds like Shakespeare sort of..?

If you are considering a solution other than FCP X we can offer knowledgeable advice and recommendations how you can migrate across to Adobe or Avid workflows to suit your business. We have cross grades avail for both applications and can provide the appropriate hardware to run the products and give you the best performance. Avid Media Composer 5.5 from FCP Crossgrades are already avail so give us a call to receive a quote.

Adobe CS5.5 Production Premium/Premiere Pro Crossgrades from FCP or Avid will be avail from August 8.

64Bit Workstations – there is no substitute for more RAM or a new power efficient system

A friend of mine who works in the motor industry once said to me “there is no substitute for cubic inches” then it changed to “ there is no substitute for a good power to weight ratio” For workstations that run a 64Bit OS for 64Bit s/ware then there is no substitute for more RAM. If you want to get the most out of your system, upgrading your RAM will improve performance. We recommend a minimum of 12GB if you are working in a HD environment, however if you plan to run multiple applications at the same time, 16GB-24GB is a recommended minimum. With the current CPUs, replacing aging hardware will save you time, money and reduce your power bills. We can put a cost effective bundle together based on your budget or workflow requirements.
