Andy DayAndy has been working in professional music and post production for over 25 years, with clients including: 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Disney, Discovery, National Geographic, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Universal Records and MTV. Andy is an Adobe Certified Trainer and also one of a few Apple Certified Master trainers for Final Cut Studio in the Asia Pacific region. He regularly travels to the US and UK to train professional Adobe and Apple users.

Course Outlines

Introduction to AVID Media Composer (1 day)

Media Composer This course is designed by AVID and FCP Master trainer Andy Day to make the transition to AVID media Composer 5.5 as easy as possible for the experienced FCP user.

The course content includes:

  • The AVID interface
  • Media management in AVID
  • Editing tools
  • Working with Effects
  • Keyframing
  • Titling using Marquee
  • Exporting and interchange with other applications including Color, Motion and STP.
  • Archiving projects
  • Setting preferences, troubleshooting and importing FCP projects.

The course is hands on and a workstation will be provided. The content is aimed at users coming from a FCP environment, for new AVID courses look out for the level 1 & 2 courses.

Introduction to Adobe Premiere Pro (1 day)

Premiere ProThe FCP to Premiere Pro switchers course will provide you with all the skills to port over to the award winning Premiere Pro CS5.5.

The course content includes:

  • Essential shortcut keys and workflows in Premiere Pro.
  • Bringing FCP projects into Premiere Pro
  • Dynamic Link to other Adobe apps
  • Using Premiere Pro with other Final Cut Studio apps, including Motion, Soundtrack Pro and Color.
  • Editing in Premiere Pro (including Multi Camera)
  • Effects in Premiere Pro
  • Exporting using Adobe Media Encoder
  • Basic Blu-ray and DVD authoring in Encore

After Effects Complete - (1 day)

After EffectsThe complete designers workshop for working with After Effects. This workshop is aimed at all levels of After Effects users. It's packed with handy practical tips such as:

  • Essential keyboard shortcuts to help complete standard tasks quickly & efficiently.
  • Basic & advanced animation
  • Layers, Masks, Shapes & Type
  • Basic Expressions
  • Working in 3D
  • Paint & Puppet tools
  • Tracking & Keying

A workstation is supplied for each participant and every course is accompanied with a companion screen cast, reducing the amount of note taking required.

CINEMA 4D Level 1 - (1 day) 

Cinema 4D Full day introduction to MAXON's CINEMA 4D.

Who should attend?

The Introduction to CINEMA 4D workshop is designed for those who have little or no experience in 3D, but would like to learn how to become skilled in this growing area of production. Ideal attendees include:

  • Artists, designers and editors who would like to expand their knowledge and skills to include 3D
  • Studio producers/managers who want to learn what 3D can offer their studio
  • Freelancers who want an understanding of how to offer 3D to their clients
  • Teachers and other educators thinking of offering 3D classes or introducing 3D into their courses

What topics are covered?

Attendees will gain a rapid understanding of the basics of CINEMA 4D. Topics covered will include:

  • Modeling with primitives
  • Boolean modeling
  • NURBS modeling
  • Polygon level modeling
  • Texture creation & application
  • Simulating basic interior lighting
  • Key-frame animation
  • Non linear animation editing
  • Still image & animation export options.

This workshop is intended to introduce concepts needed to create three-dimensional (3D) graphics as a form of animated or still digital media. While the demonstrations and hands on participation will make use of Cinema 4D, the concepts and tools used are common to all 3d graphics software on the market today.

A workstation is supplied for each participant and every course is accompanied with a companion screen cast, reducing the amount of note taking required.

CINEMA 4D Level 2 - (1 day)

Ideally people who have completed the Introduction course would get the most out of this. However if you are experienced to an intermediate level with CINEMA 4D then you can also attend. CINEMA 4D Level 2 workshop is designed for those who would like to further their knowledge of 3D and gain more of an understanding about what CINEMA 4D is capable of. Ideal attendees include:

  • Artists, designers and editors who would like to expand their knowledge and skills to include 3D
  • Studio producers/managers who want to learn what 3D can offer their studio
  • Freelancers who want an understanding of how to offer 3D to their clients
  • Teachers and other educators thinking of offering 3D classes or introducing 3D into their courses.
What topics are covered?

Attendees will gain a further understanding of the basics of CINEMA 4D and how it can be applied to their motion graphics skill set.

Topics covered will include:

  • Advanced scene setup
  • Layers
  • Advanced HyperNurbs modeling
  • Basic Particles systems
  • Body Paint

  • Mograph

Cinema 4D CINEMA 4D Product Modeling and Visualisation - Day 1

This course is divided into 2 separate 1 day sessions. This gives designers the flexibility to attend one or both sessions to suit their work schedule and experience.

Day one is focused on modeling products, using all the methods available in C4D from primitive objects to advanced polygon modeling, course attendees will leave with a valuable tool set to apply to their product visualisations.

The course outline

  • Efficient use of primitive objects
  • Working with orthographic product sketches and incorporation into C4D
  • Importing from Autocad
  • Using nurbs and splines
  • Working with the Boole function
  • Working with the other modelers
  • Modeling with deformers
  • Complete guide to working with C4D Polygon tools
  • Basic intro to mograph for modeling

A workstation will be provided for the duration of the course running C4D R13

Cinema 4D CINEMA 4D Product Modeling and Visualisation - Day 2

This course is divided into 2 separate 1 day sessions. This gives designers the flexibility to attend one or both sessions to suit their work schedule and experience.

Day two is focused on rendering out the model created on day 1. (see outline above) This will provide attendees with the ability to create photo realistic renders of their own product visualisations.

The course outline

  • Using Body Paint to create UVs
  • Advanced lighting techniques
  • Global illumination for realistic shadows and lighting
  • Creating materials from scratch
  • Using the content manager
  • Stacking materials
  • Using an environment
  • Render setting adjustments for the best quality output

A workstation will be provided for the duration of the course running C4D R13

Adobe Photoshop for Video and New Media - (1 day) 

Subjects covered include:

  • Video workspace in Photoshop 
  • Title creation in Photoshop 
  • Fixing video 
  • Rotoscoping in Photoshop 
  • Creating 3D Objects & animations

There will be plenty of step by step lessons and detailed explanations of Photoshop in a video or web environment. Note : 3D object creation only available in CS4 extended version. The course is aimed at new Photoshop users.

Cancellation Policy

Digistor understands that circumstances may arise requiring a registrant to cancel and/or reschedule their course registration.

  • Reschedule is permitted to the same course offered at an alternative date at no charge if made 5+ working days prior to the course registration, subject to availability of the course at an alternative date and spaces within it.
  • 100% refund will be provided for cancellations outside 20 working days of the course registration.
  • 50% refund for cancellations received 11-20 working days (inclusive) prior to the course registration.
  • Regrettably, no refunds for cancellations within 0-10 working days (inclusive) prior to the course registration.

No credit will be given for registrants who do not show up to the course for which they were registered.
