Andy Day
Andy has been working in professional music and post production for over 25 years, with clients including: 20th Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Disney, Discovery, National Geographic, BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Universal Records and MTV. Andy is an Adobe Certified Trainer and also one of a few Apple Certified Master trainers for Final Cut Studio in the Asia Pacific region. He regularly travels to the US and UK to train professional Adobe and Apple users.

Warren Eagles
Warren Eagles has been a Colourist for over 20 years. He learned his trade in Soho London, working on high end TV commercials, music videos and movies such as “Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels”. Now working as a freelance Colourist in Australia, he splits his time between grading and training throughout Asia.

He has a lot of experience on a number of grading systems including Apple “Color” where he has worked on both series of the channel 10 cop series “Rush”.

Warren has his own portable Apple Color grading system and has graded a number of documentaries, films and music videos.

Jas Shennan
After studying at the London Film School, under Mike Leigh and Ken Loach, Jas went on to editing documentaries at the BBC before coming to Australia. He has his own production company and has worked in the commercial and corporate world as producer, director, writer, cameraman and editor.

Jas is bringing 40 years of editing experience into this course and hopes that students will go away with some fresh insights into the very creative world of video editing.

Editing 101 - The Craft of Editing

This is a two day course presented by professional editor, Jas Shennan. The course is for anyone keen to understand more about the craft of editing. Directors and Post producers needing to get some hands on experience, editors converting back from Final Cut, film students, school students, amateur film makers, or anyone with an interest in learning the craft of editing.

You can set your own level of “button pushing”, if you’ve never edited before you’ll be given enough for you to get started immediately. The course is not so much an Avid course it’s an editing course using Avid.

After Effects Complete - (1 day)

The complete designers workshop for working with After Effects. This workshop is aimed at all levels of After Effects users. It’s packed with handy practical tips such as:

• Essential keyboard shortcuts to help complete standard tasks quickly & efficiently.
• Basic & advanced animation
• Layers, Masks, Shapes & Type
• Basic Expressions
• Working in 3D
• Paint & Puppet tools
• Tracking & Keying
• Rendering

CINEMA 4D Level 1 - (1 day)

Full day introduction to MAXON's CINEMA 4D.

Who should attend?

The Introduction to CINEMA 4D workshop is designed for those who have little or no experience in 3D, but would like to learn how to become skilled in this growing area of production. Ideal attendees include:

• Artists, designers and editors who would like to expand their knowledge and skills to include 3D
• Studio producers/managers who want to learn what 3D can offer their studio
• Freelancers who want an understanding of how to offer 3D to their clients
• Teachers and other educators thinking of offering 3D classes or introducing 3D into their courses

What topics are covered?

Attendees will gain a rapid understanding of the basics of CINEMA 4D.

Topics covered will include:
• Modeling with primitives
• Boolean modeling
• NURBS modeling
• Polygon level modeling
• Texture creation & application
• Simulating basic interior lighting
• Key-frame animation
• Non linear animation editing
• Still image & animation export options.

This workshop is intended to introduce concepts needed to create three-dimensional (3D) graphics as a form of animated or still digital media. While the demonstrations and hands on participation will make use of Cinema 4D, the concepts and tools used are common to all 3d graphics software on the market today.

Ideally people who have completed the Introduction course would get the most out of this. However if you are experienced to an intermediate level with CINEMA 4D then you can also attend. CINEMA 4D Level 2 workshop is designed for those who would like to further their knowledge of 3D and gain more of an understanding about what CINEMA 4D is capable of. Ideal attendees include:

• Artists, designers and editors who would like to expand their knowledge and skills to include 3D
• Studio producers/managers who want to learn what 3D can offer their studio
• Freelancers who want an understanding of how to offer 3D to their clients
• Teachers and other educators thinking of offering 3D classes or introducing 3D into their courses

What topics are covered?

Attendees will gain a further understanding of the basics of CINEMA 4D and how it can be applied to their motion graphics skill set.

This is a broad overview of the different CS5 applications and can be tailored to meet the individual needs of the participants.Whatever your focus though this course is sure to give you plenty of tips and tricks to get the most out of upgrading.

• Workflow strategies with Premiere Pro
• Essential editing shortcuts and native editing with Premiere Pro using the mercury playback engine
• After Effects new features
• Adobe Media encoder enhancements
• Flash Catalyst for video producers and motion graphics artists

• Improvements in Encore CS5 bluray authoring

Color 1.5 for Editors - (4 hour)

Subjects covered include:
• Setting up Color
• Primary color correction
• Secondary color correction

There will be plenty of step by step run-throughs of common color correction and grading methods, as well as some tips on setting up a grading suite on a budget. The course is aimed at Final Cut Studio users or Colourists.

• Freelancers who want an understanding of how to offer 3D to their clients

Adobe Photoshop for Video and New Media - (1 day)

Subjects covered include:

• Video workspace in Photoshop
• Title creation in Photoshop
• Fixing video
• Rotoscoping in Photoshop
• Creating 3D Objects & animations

There will be plenty of step by step lessons and detailed explanations of Photoshop in a video or web environment. Note : 3D object creation only available in CS4 extended version. The course is aimed at new Photoshop users.

This course has plenty of step by step lessons on repairing common audio problems, recording VO's (& ADR), building up a soundtrack & mixing.
