Inner Sanctum Media: Best Job in the World
Inner Sanctum Media based in Brisbane deployed an EditShare 8TB storage system to facilitate production workflows during the ‘Best Job in the World’ competition.
Sponsored by Tourism Queensland, a campaign to hire a ‘caretaker’ for the islands of the Great Barrier Reef rapidly began to attract international interest and press attention. More than 40,000 candidates from around the world applied for the job, which included a salary plus luxurious free housing in a paradise setting. Meanwhile, Tourism Queensland, with media support from ISM, was able to attract huge tourist interest and publicity.
Digistor supplied the main edit suites and viewing stations as well onsite support and pre-delivery setup.
“Digistor was excited to be involved with Inner Sanctum Media on such a unique campaign which has captured the world’s attention," stated Digistor Account Manager, Jason Bock. "Once again the Editshare system has proven to be more than capable of handling an event of this magnitude where tight turnaround times are critical.”
Digistor and EditShare
ISM set up a media centre on Hamilton Island and provided production and distribution support during the 3-day final selection process. Regional and international video crews, including the US, UK, France, Japan and others arrived. ISM produced continuous video news releases and web updates on the 16 finalists and daily events.
Regional reseller Digistor provided an EditShare Storage Series server, the core of the ISM workflow. EditShare manufactures cross platform collaborative editing and shared media storage.
ISM had a 21-person staff covering the event, including two video crews, an underwater specialty team, three video editors and producers. The EditShare formed the hub for sharing media connected to other devices with standard 1-Gigabit ethernet. One workstation was dedicated to ingesting video from the HD XDCAM professional discs as they arrived from different venues. Media was immediately available to the 3 Final Cut Pro suites used to create the VNRs and web packages.
Finished packages were up-linked via satellite to Reuters in London for global distribution on the news agency's media distribution platform. Two additional viewing workstations in the media centre were connected to the EditShare, allowing other video crews access to the media. Crews using non-linear media could quickly download particular segments onto thumb drives. This workflow helped generate over 86 transmissions over the 3-day event.
EditShare Complete Collaboration Line
The Storage and XStream Series are part of the EditShare Complete Collaboration line of products, made for shared media and collaborative workflows from ingest, through production to archive. Designed for editing and compositing products from Adobe, Apple, Assimilate, Autodesk, Avid, Digidesign, Digital Vision and Sony, EditShare storage servers allow all connected workstations to capture, access and share, in real time, a common pool of media files. Regardless of application or platform, source material, work in progress and finished packages are shared and available to all network users. EditShare also provides full project sharing among both Apple and Avid editing workgroups.
EditShare's collaboration products are integrated. Flow Ingest captures up to four channels of media and associated metadata, storing each channel in up to three formats simultaneously and outputting a proxy for fast retrieval. No background transcoding is required. Flow Browse handles media cataloguing, search and retrieval of material within the shared storage environments, accessible from any PC.
