Shot at Fox Studios Sydney as well as various locations in NSW, the latest Baz Luhrman Film "The Great Gatsby" starring Leonardo Di Caprio has now moved smoothly into editorial production at Spectrum Films.

Using Avid ISIS 5000 and Media Composer as the backbone, this feature film utilising a stereoscopic workflow has turned out to be a lot more elegant than would have anticipated a year ago.

Mike Honey is Spectrum Film's Chief Technical Officer with wide experience in editing and post-production spanning several decades and continents and has been with Spectrum Films for the last 13 years helping to provide equipment and solutions to all things post.

"We've been working quite closely with Avid and Digistor on the workflow and its great when things just work," stated Mike. "We've rolled out 6 Mac based suites with a combination of Passive Stereoscopic Client and Critical monitoring."

This is not the first Stereoscopic feature film Spectrum Films has worked on recently with Digistor. They put together a completely different Stereoscopic workflow for the feature film "Stormsurfers" using Media Composer, Unity and Cineform's Neo 3D. The project had a very different budget which required a very different workflow. At that time, Spectrum Films felt comfortable with Digistor as they really seemed to have, in Mike Honey's words, "taken Stereo by the horns" and again assisted them with an end to end post solution that could bring the project in on budget.

Rob Puru, Avid Technician at Spectrum Films

Spectrum Films has gone from strength to strength in the market and is quietly expanding. They recently employed Rob Puru, one of Australia's leading and most experienced Avid technicians who is a complementary addition to their already excellent staff.

Their next project is the Kath and Kim feature film, a 2D production which is about to start post-production in Melbourne.

"We'll be using Digistor and Avid right through this workflow once again," added Mike. "This combination has proven successful for us time and time again."
