What makes a hot-shot editor or great edit?
Edit Royale is a fun, live and interactive annual event brought to you by the Australian Screen Editors Guild which has thrilled attendees every year since the first Edit Royale in 2017.
Live at Digistor's offices in Sydney, five emerging editors will compete to show off their editing artistry and speed. Each will edit a one-minute music video in only two hours and this year we will be adding a genre bending surprise twist! As part of the live audience, you will witness the edited programmes emerging from the raw media while enjoying live commentary, food and refreshments, culminating in the selection of the Edit Royale 2022 winner.
The editor who produces the best edit of the night will win great prizes.
Join in and attend in person
We will have a live audience at the venue this year, so register now to join the fun. You get to check out the editors making creative decisions under pressure and watch how others work across the different platforms - picking up invaluable tips. Network with friends and enjoy the refreshments as you witness the contestants battle it out.
And once the cutting is done, you get to cast your vote live to choose the winner of Edit Royale 2022.
Riccy Felixberto ASE has over 20 years of experience in Television working both as an Editor and Producer.
Kris Rowe has over 20 years industry experience, having worked on films such as Moulin Rouge, Superman Returns, Peter Pan and The Magician.
Walter Bienz is The Solid State company founder, creative director, and movie-trailer editor.
... but wait ... there's more
While the editors are cutting there will be live, expert commentary from our fabulous compares Riccy Felixberto and Kris Rowe.
Riccy Felixberto ASE has worked in the Film & Television for over 20 years, specializing in Reality Television & Factual Entertainment. At the Ellie Awards, he is the first and only editor to win 'Best Editing in Reality' on two seperate occasions (Australian Survivor & LegoMasters Australia); and more recently received accreditation with the Australian Screen Editors Guild. These days, Riccy is venturing into Executive & Supervising Post Producing roles, but you will never see him let go of the Avid keyboard.
We'll also have company founder Walter Bienz who in the last 2 decades delivered over 350 film marketing campaigns and worked with some of the world's best directors to create their films' most important marketing asset - its trailer, including Alex Proyas, Phillip Noyce, Justin Kurzel & Kate Shortland.
In addition, there'll be tech talk, fun polls, interactive Q&A and drop-ins from previous competitors. How did they approach their cuts? What are their favourite tips and tricks?
And, if that's not enough excitement for one night, we'll also be drawing Lucky Door Prizes!
Can't make it in person? Register to watch the live stream.
Want to join the fun, but can't get to the venue on the night? Then register here and we'll provide a live streaming link so you can gather your friends, get your own food and drinks and join in the fun. You'll also be able to vote for your favourite via mobile.
